From its humble beginnings as Holmes County Agricultural High School, Holmes Community College has grown into one of the largest and best community colleges in the state of Mississippi serving over 6,000 students.  Holmes Community College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate degrees and certificates.  Holmes CC serves Attala, Carroll, Choctaw, Grenada, Holmes, Madison, Montgomery, Webster and Yazoo counties.

Benefits

Holmes Community College is a member of the State of Mississippi Public Employees Retirement System (PERS).  We offer health insurance, along with dental and vision coverage.  Employees of Holmes Community College as well as their dependents are eligible for tuition reimbursement.  Holmes employees also have free access to the school’s Fitness Center where they can work out, swim or relax after work in the sauna.  Another perk is access to the school’s massage therapy program where employees can sign up for free massages throughout the school year.

Aside from a very friendly atmosphere, the Ridgeland campus’s hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., affording our staff extended weekends depending on your shift assignment.  Our police department operates with two (2) shifts.  The day shift hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday.  While the evening shift hours are 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

Holmes Community College, a comprehensive public institution located in Central Mississippi, provides innovative educational and cultural opportunities to its constituents through campus-based and distance education programs. The college seeks to prepare its students for university transfer, productive employment and lifelong learning by offering an Associate of Arts degree, Associate of Applied Science degree, technical certificates and career certificates as well as workforce training. Holmes, whose primary commitment is to excellence in all areas, offers affordable, equal access to higher education in an attractive, secure, multi-campus environment.

Public Safety

The Public Safety Department works to maintain a safe and secure environment to learn, reside, and relax while at our locations.  The Public Safety Department at our Ridgeland location operates when the college is open or hosting events after-hours/weekends.  The Public Safety Department consists of the Chief of Police and certified police officers who are charged with protecting life, property and the general safety of the college campus.

Police officer with the Public Safety Department have full law enforcement powers like any other municipal, county or state officers.  Police officers are sworn to enforce the rules and regulations of the college, as well as, the laws of the State of Mississippi.
